With the revolutionary Thunderbolt technology, you'll be able to achieve bi-directional channels with transfer speeds to peripherals like external hard drives and servers up to an amazing 10 Gbps--while also connecting to a DisplayPort-compatible high-resolution display.
As with previous models, the MacBook Pro features a precision unibody enclosure crafted from a single block of aluminum, creating a thin and light mobile computing workhorse (less than 1 inch thin and just 4.5 pounds) that's also highly durable. And it includes a 13.3-inch, LED-backlit glass display as well as a glass trackpad that doesn't include a button (for larger tracking area) that features Apple's Multi-Touch technology. You'll also get up to 7 hours of battery life while on the go.
This version of the 13.3-inch MacBook Pro (model MC700LL/A) features a 2.3 GHz Core i5 "Sandy Bridge" dual-core processor, 320 GB hard drive, and 4 GB of installed RAM. Other features include integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000 graphics, ultra-fast Wireless-N Wi-Fi networking, Bluetooth connectivity, an SDXC card slot, two USB 2.0 ports, and a FireWire 800 port (see full specifications below). Key Features

Revolutionary Thunderbolt Technology
Developed by Intel with collaboration from Apple, high-speed Thunderbolt I/O (input/output) technology delivers an amazing 10 gigabits per second of transfer speeds in both directions. Built into the MacBook Pro, the Thunderbolt port allows you to connect to new Thunderbolt-compatible peripherals as well as existing USB and FireWire peripherals using simple adapters. You'll be able to move data up to 20 times faster than with USB 2.0 and more than 12 times faster than with FireWire 800, and you can daisy-chain multiple high-speed devices without using a hub.
And because Thunderbolt is based on DisplayPort technology, you'll be able to connect to a high-resolution display from the same port. Any Mini DisplayPort display plugs right into the Thunderbolt port, and you can also connect displays that use DisplayPort, DVI, HDMI, or VGA connections with an existing adapter. You'll also be able to include your display into a daisy-chained set of peripherals.
Intel Core i5
Next-Generation Dual-Core Intel Processor
This MacBook Pro is powered by a second-generation Intel Core i5 dual-core processor (dubbed "Sandy Bridge"), which provides breakthrough digital media management, content creation, and 3D gaming capabilities. With updated Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0, the latest Core i5 increases speed automatically for whatever you're doing, dynamically accelerating performance to match your workload.
Intel's Hyper-Threading Technology enables each core of your processor to work on two tasks at the same time, delivering the performance you need for smart multitasking. And you'll enjoy a rich set of new features for a stunning and seamless visual experience with no additional hardware. The "Sandy Bridge" Core i5 processor also provides faster access to the installed RAM, with an integrated memory controller to connect fast 1333 MHz memory directly to the processor.
With new microarchitecture, the graphics processor resides on the same chip as the central processor and has direct access to the 3 MB of shared L3 cache--helping your applications run at peak performance. And an integrated video encoder enables HD video calls with FaceTime, while an efficient decoder gives you long battery life when you're watching DVDs or iTunes movies.
Buttonless Multi-Touch Trackpad
With no button on the glass trackpad, there's more room to track and click--left, right, center, and everywhere in between. Without a separate button, the trackpad gives your hands plenty of room to move on the large, silky glass surface. It also incorporates Multi-Touch gestures--including swipe, pinch, rotate, and four-finger swipe. And it also now supports inertial scrolling, an intuitive way to scroll through large photo libraries, lengthy documents and long web sites.

5A Solid Computer Faster
Glenn R. Howes
I stopped by my Apple Store this morning MacBook Pro has been made available to the public and bought one, replacing my old MacBook unibody more than two years. These are high quality computers, and well done. My old computer, which is very similar to this, she still looked great after two years, with a little 'at the bottom of scratches, dents, and an unfortunate angle. I do not regret for a minute to pay more for a device that I use several hours a day, and from which I draw my life.

The strength of this computer compared to the previous 13-inch unibody MacBook is the processor. It is much faster computationally intensive tasks. For example, I have a large application written in C + + programming language that XCode on my MacBook end of 2008 vintage could be completed in 16.5 minutes, the MacBook can do the same task in 8.5 minutes, a near doubling speed.
Similiarly, the conversion of an MP3 file to AAC 10 minutes of iTunes used to take 21 seconds, now takes 14 seconds. Not surprisingly, computer processors have become faster.
The new processor tends to heat up quickly to full load, so be ready for the fan noise more frequent.

The weak point is the stock hard drive, a 320GB 5400 RPM laptop hard disk from Hitachi. Any operation depending on the hard drive performance is not going to be much faster on this machine than in years past. If you do not have large capacity requirements, it might be better served to order a special model with a smaller disk, but much faster than solid state (SSD), which are not cheap, but a computer will result in much more balanced than leaves its high performance CPU waiting for data minimum. I would, but the higher capacity SSDs cost as much as the computer alone.

If you were to switch to an SSD, keep in mind that while this model has a SATA port type III, you might have trouble using a new type III SATA SSD in it.
[Update: Online reports indicate Apple has started shipping these laptops with the optical bay, even with a SATA port III.] I tried to install a 128 GB Crucial RealSSD C300 in the bay hard drive and the setup of the operating system does not was unable to install.
Online forums indicate people are having problems with disks III, and if the problem is with your drive, bad cable, or the firmware is being discussed. You might want to wait for an update type III until this settles. In the meantime, I bought a bracket that allows me to replace the optical drive and put the SSD in the second type of port used in the past by the SuperDrive.

This and the new MacBook Air is the only Apple sells laptops without a discrete graphics processing units (GPU), instead relying on Soly Intel 3000HD integrated GPU. Intel has not been previously known for his ability GPU, but because of space restrictions and the Intel design, and improvements in the performance of Apple finally pushed to go alone integrated.
I would prefer a dedicated GPU, especially win a laptop, but I'm not a player, and will see much better with the CPU. I'm sure Apple would have preferred a dedicated GPU, as their strategy for improving performance is to use the GPU for general purpose computing using the framework OpenCL.

New models this year is the connector replaces the Thunderbolt Intel Mini Display Port connector.
This brings flexibility is likely to become increasingly useful as hubs and devices become available to use his fantastic speed. Adapters and docks will be available for use this as a USB port, DVI, Firewire, Ethernet port simultaneously, making a data cable to the dock on the desktop easier. But, I have no use for now. News reports indicate that Apple will port to himself this year, Intel is also insisting that other motherboard manufacturers could begin to include it, and I hope they do.
If the door is a market success is not a foregone conclusion, but I can not wait for synchronization and charging a iPad future beyond this door quickly, unfortunately the 2 iPad has this port, but one day.

I am happy to have a standard FireWire 800 port and an SD card reader, none of which were found on my previous non-Pro laptop. Will I be able to recharge my iPad at full speed with Amp 2 USB ports, which could not do before. FaceTime The application for OS X is pre-installed, no need to buy it from the Mac App Store.

Small luxuries are the backlit keyboard, MagSafe power cord, keyboard, responsive company, and large capacity multi-touch trackpad.
The display is bright and has a good range, but not great viewing angles, an iPad definitely worse, but better than good portable monitor are a little yellow 'saturated, while using the default color profile.
I'm sure many would prefer a higher resolution than 1280x800, but I'd jump at very high resolutions in combination with support for resolution independence of the operating system and applications. Maybe one day. The high-resolution camera iSight surprised me with its clarity and size when you chat FaceTime.

Some things have gone downhill. It requires the removal of 12 screws to swap the hard drive, my old MacBook, but had 1. There used to be a door next to the microphone dedicated headphone jack, but that has gone the way of the dodo, and I've never used it anyway.

I chose to buy my 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) memory name brand from a favorite online vendor and saved a lot 'of money in charge of Apple's 8GB of RAM (2x4GB). The installation was fairly simple, with the right size Phillips screwdriver, although it is strange that you expect to change the RAM, while the battery is still connected.
Again the installation went without incident, and it is certainly easier than most other laptops.
I was a little 'disappointed that the RAM has not added significantly improve my time compiling Xcode, cutting up to 20 seconds after 8.5 minutes, but I hope it will help when multitasking several applications.

This is a refinement to previous generations, and I would bet to be the last chance for this series of enclosures machined anodized aluminum unibody, elegant and perfect as they seem. If you wait a year or more, you could get liquid metal changes as impressive cases of fantastic shapes, Retinal Display monitor, touch screen, standard SSD boot drive, the 4G network cell and the loss of the optical drive. But I could not wait, I needed a horse now, not next year.

As a Mac developer, I was running OS X 10.7 Leo on this box as my primary OS for several weeks before the official release and I recommend you upgrade to Leo if you are not pre-installed. Quick and strong, even if you have to prepare to train with more intensive use of gestures carried by IOS and make it a perfect fit with the built in trackpad.

Compared to other Macs

The owners of the recently MacBook 13-inch, will make an informed decision to stay pat or move up. Many get better value for their money by replacing their spinning hard drive with a SSD, something has been attempted. Seriously, a Core 2 Duo processor with NVIDIA's area and a large SSD will run under OS X Lion in a few months, so just think about doing an upgrade of the entire computer hard drive instead. That said, this model has much better battery life than a few years ago, and a best series of ports, along with the backlit keyboard, CPU, much faster and a higher resolution camera. Another advantage to the end of 2008 against my model is the maximum RAM, this model has a maximum capacity of 8 GB, the same model last year, but higher than my old skills.

Compared to version 2.7 GHz i7 these dimensions of the screen itself, which comes with integrated Intel graphics.
Reports online version i7 give an overall improvement in the speed of perhaps 10-15%, which is pushing even be noticeable. I preferred to do what I did, spend the money to put in startup SSD small size in the bay under the optical drive.
The difference of random disk access is amazing, and very obvious. If money is no object, you can do both.

Between this and the new MacBook Air. The fresh air is about as fast at work like this Pro, but has a very fast SSD drive built in, in practice you will hear the turbo side of the base model MacBook Pro with its rotating disk. The air is also lighter and model of the 13 'has a higher resolution display. Basically, I recommend getting the Air unless you absolutely need one of the following: more than 256 GB of hard drive space, a Firewire port in the box, more than 4GB of RAM, or an Ethernet port. I'm thinking of buying a plane for my wife, along with the new Cinema Display, which is equipped with USB, Ethernet and a door Fir
